Yamato no Kami Tadayuki was a distinguished swordsmith of the Fujiwara Takada School in Bungo Province, Kyushu. Serving the powerful Hosokawa Clan as an official swordsmith to the Kumamoto Domain, he earned a reputation for producing blades of exceptional craftsmanship, combining refined beauty with outstanding functionality.
The Fujiwara Takada tradition is celebrated throughout Japanese history for swords said to embody the ideal qualities of "unbreakable, unbending, and exceptionally sharp." Such was their reputation that many original Takada blades were remounted as military swords for high-ranking officers during the First Sino-Japanese War, the Russo-Japanese War, and even the Second World War, reflecting the enduring confidence placed in their cutting performance and reliability.
Certified as NBTHK Tokubetsu Hozon (Especially Preserved Sword), this katana represents an outstanding example of the Edo-period Bungo tradition. Combining historical importance, superb workmanship, and an elegant koshirae, it is an exceptional collector's piece that embodies the spirit and practicality of the Japanese samurai.
The blade comes with a Certificate of NBTHK Japan Sword Preservation Society - Tokubetsu Hozon Paper (Extremely Well-preserved sword)
